Director, Financial Reporting & Compliance
Toronto, ON | Full-time
Are you a finance leader who thrives on building strong controls, driving operational excellence, and turning complexity into clarity? This could be your next move.
At Enwave, we're helping accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future through innovative energy solutions that serve communities across Canada. As Director, Financial Reporting & Compliance, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement of our finance function while supporting the organization's broader growth and sustainability goals.
Reporting to the CFO, you'll lead financial reporting, controllership, shared services, compliance, audit, and internal controls, while helping modernize processes and strengthen financial governance across the business.
What you’ll do
You'll provide strategic leadership across financial reporting, accounting operations, tax compliance, audit activities, and internal controls. This includes overseeing consolidated financial statements, corporate accounting activities, accounting policy, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
You'll lead Enwave's shared services functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, ensuring efficient, accurate, and scalable operations. You'll also oversee relationships with external auditors and advisors, managing annual audits, tax matters, and key governance processes.
A key part of the role is driving transformation. You'll identify opportunities to modernize finance processes, strengthen controls, expand automation, and improve the use of tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI. At the same time, you'll develop and mentor a high-performing team while supporting Finance leadership, the Audit Committee, and Board reporting requirements
What we're looking for
- CPA designation with a strong technical accounting foundation and expertise in IFRS reporting.
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership at the Senior Manager or Director level.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience leading financial reporting, compliance, audit, and controllership functions.
- Strong people's leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and inspire teams through change.
- Experience enhancing internal controls, improving financial processes, and implementing more automated and scalable ways of working.
- Demonstrated success managing external auditors, tax advisors, and professional service providers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex financial matters to senior leaders.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, or finance system optimization is considered an asset.
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or district energy is considered an asset.

You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, lead transformation, build high-performing teams, and help shape the future of finance within a growing organization.
And if building stronger controls, smarter processes, and a better future sound like your idea of a good time, we'll probably get along just fine.
