Are you passionate about strategic communications and ready to step into a senior leadership role to drive an impact?

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Director, Global Communications to join our team.


As Director, Global Communications, you shape and lead Valmet’s global internal communications to support the company’s strategy, transformation, and cultural evolution. This role is central to fostering employee engagement, strengthening corporate identity and ensuring communications reflect and reinforce Valmet’s values, culture and strategic direction.

You will guide global employee communications and engagement efforts together with your team of international communications professionals, developing and implementing new strategies and tactics that deliver a tangible impact. You will also serve as a strategic advisor to leadership and a trusted partner across functions.

You will be a member of our Communications and Brand leadership team, reporting to VP, Communications and Brand, and work in close partnership with Valmet’s leadership and other stakeholders.

The position is based in Finland (Espoo).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute Valmet’s global internal communications, aligned with the renewed Lead the Way strategy, our transformation, and cultural initiatives and with the company level story & messaging.
  • Contribute to shaping Valmet’s story and brand as we drive the company’s transformation
  • Guide and empower the Global internal communications team to deliver high-quality, globally relevant communications to support transformation, nurturing talent, and leadership engagement
  • Partner with Valmet’s leadership and business areas to ensure engaging and consistent storytelling and messaging across the organization
  • Champion strategic communications practices and materials that enhance employee understanding in the global context
  • Evolve tactics and channels to ensure content relevance, clarity, and reach.
  • Ensure readiness and responsiveness in internal crisis communications.

Expectations for the role:

  • Advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 12-15 years of international experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or employee engagement in a global organizations, preferably listed, large, industrial or technology companies.
  • Experience of working and living abroad is considered an asset.
  • Proven track record in leading strategic and change communications initiatives across multiple geographies
  • Experience in managing and developing high-performing, international teams.
  • Strategic thinking and execution ability to translate complex business goals into clear communications
  • Combination of strategic mindset and hands-on approach with high clock-speed, balancing speed and quality for a world-class approach
  • Ability to foster psychological safety and collaboration in dynamic environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership level
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats and channels.
  • Thorough understanding of current communications platforms and trends
  • Fluency in English language (written and spoken). Finnish is considered an asset.
