Position Summary:
The Director of Millwork Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a custom millwork shop, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and on-time project delivery. This role combines hands-on operational leadership with technical expertise in CAD drafting and estimating. The Director will manage a small team of approximately five employees and play a key role in driving productivity, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the shop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all millwork shop operations, including production planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of approximately five shop employees
  • Prepare and review detailed CAD shop drawings for custom millwork projects
  • Develop accurate cost estimates and proposals for millwork jobs, including materials, labor, and timelines
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards, specifications, and client expectations
  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, and clients to ensure alignment on project scope and deliverables
  • Monitor inventory, materials, and equipment to maintain efficient operations
  • Implement and enforce safety standards and best practices within the shop
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in millwork production
  • At least 3 years of experience in a millwork production management or supervisory role
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software for shop drawings (e.g., AutoCAD or similar)
  • Proven experience in estimating and preparing millwork proposals
  • Solid understanding of millwork materials, fabrication techniques, and equipment
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating or managing a small-to-mid-sized custom millwork shop
  • Familiarity with project management and estimating software
  • Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards

Pay: $63,559.25 - $76,544.47 per year
