Job Summary
The Director of Partner Agency Services leads the strategic direction, operations, and relationship management for the Foodbank’s largest distribution channel. This role ensures that partner agencies are well-equipped, supported, and aligned with organizational goals to close the meal gap and strengthen food access across the service area. The Director oversees strategic planning, data systems, partnerships, communication and team leadership to advance the Foodbank’s mission throughout the service area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Program Development
  • Develop and implement the overall strategy for the Foodbank’s Partner Agency Services (PAS) network-the organization’s largest distribution channel.
  • Conduct mapping and analysis of the Foodbank’s service area to identify regions of high food insecurity and opportunities to close the meal gap.
  • Define the current and future model of a “partner agency,” ensuring alignment with evolving community needs and Foodbank strategic priorities.
  • Oversea the USDA TEFAP and CSFP federal programs and ensure full compliance with requirements established by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
  • Ensure partner agency operations comply with all relevant Feeding America policies and procedures

Data, Systems & Evaluation

  • Lead the development and enhancement of PAS data systems to improve agency effectiveness, track outcomes, and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within the partner network.

Partner Agency Support & Advocacy

  • Serve as the primary advocate for partner agencies, championing equitable access to resources such as grants, equipment, transportation (trucks), volunteers, capacity-building tools, and streamlined reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Programs, Food Procurement, Operations, etc.) to ensure partner needs are understood and addressed.
  • Identify ways partner agencies can more effectively support Foodbank operations and mission delivery.
  • Serves as the facilitator of the Agency Advisory Council.

Community Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Build and nurture strong relationships within the community to strengthen the Foodbank’s partner agency network.
  • Facilitate collaboration and relationship-building among partner agencies and community partners to promote shared learning, resource exchange, and collective impact.
  • Represents the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to various audiences including individual and corporate donors, volunteers, peer non-profits, community groups and meetings.

Communication & Training

  • Improve communication channels between partner agencies and the Foodbank, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and responsiveness.
  • Develop and implement training programs that build partner agency capacity, food distribution best practices, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and oversee the PAS team, ensuring high performance, professional development, and alignment with organizational values.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven team culture focused on service excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Minimum: bachelor’s degree in related field, master’s preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+years relevant experience:
  • Note: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work (e.g. professional, philanthropic, religions, spiritual, community, student, and social).
  • 5+ years supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination education and experience is acceptable provided they are comparable in type, scope and thoroughness of position’s education and experience requirements.

  • Research and coordinate resources, as well as analyze and interpret demographic/geographic/other relevant data sets as it relates to the Foodbank.
  • Determine projected goals and adjust as needed throughout fiscal year.
  • Self-starter who can work independently sets own schedule to utilize time and resources to meet goals most effectively.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers, program partners, and the public.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting and business practices to effectively manage a budget.
  • Impeccable attention to detail-including meeting dates, budgets, deadlines, and providing information to internal departments.
  • Proficient with computer programs including, but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective steward of and organized with time and resources.

Certifications/licenses

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
