The Director Operations & Site Leader Singapore is responsible for delivering on key strategic operations and transitions objectives, leading ~300 associates in Leica Microsystems’ state-of-the-art Singapore production facility.

This position reports to the VP of Global Operations and is part of the Operations Leadership Team and will be an on-site role located in Singapore.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing and operations strategy, driving maximum capacity utilization of the manufacturing units towards achieving the group’s strategy, growth and profit objectives.
  • Lead the implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including strategic resource allocation and applying good manufacturing principles, organization structure, leadership, sourcing and integration, production systems and techniques for improved efficiencies and adherence to best practice.
  • Provide strong leadership to the associates at the plants, ensuring strong development, high morale, teamwork and good employee relations, at all levels, including on the shop floor.
  • Ensure all divisions within the manufacturing area are properly staffed and coordinated to perform duties effectively.
  • Promote the development of favorable employee relations to further the organization’s production of quality goods.
  • Oversee all operations of the plant and maintain financial discipline and safety.
  • Ensuring compliance to all group systems, guidelines and policies.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 10+ years’ experience in heading production units, departments or factories.
  • Very strong transformation and change management experience and skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering strong Operations results with high emphasis on Inventory turns and On time delivery.
  • Proven track record leading, developing and deploying organizational structures that deliver high performance culture and drive cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed organization.
  • Proven track record of deploying and sustaining lean principles and a continuous improvement culture in production/assembly environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a culture of accountability, a sense of urgency and agility to respond to dynamic business needs.
  • Demonstrated quality improvement skills with attention to creation of processes and controls.

Travel:

  • This is an on-site role. Occasional travel may be required to international LMS/supplier sites, no more than 10%.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working in a multinational company with a reporting line to EMEA/North America.
  • Experience in the medical device industry.
