Gogo Business Aviation is looking for a Regulatory Affairs Director to obtain regulatory approvals globally, with a primary focus on the Asia Pacific region, for operation of Gogo’s global broadband inflight connectivity system to enable Wi-Fi and GEO and LEO satellite connectivity onboard business airlines. You will develop and manage partnerships with global satellite operators, international telecommunications providers and Regulatory Bodies, to support Gogo’s global network. In addition, you will assist in acquiring radio type certification for aircraft communication equipment in foreign countries.

How will you make a difference?
- Obtains market access licenses globally, for Gogo GALILEO High-speed, low-latency broadband internet for business aircraft.
- Work with and coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, finance, and business to solve issues and achieve results.
- Responsible for international regulatory filings working with internal and external personnel, including telecommunication regulators.
- Interact and work with foreign government officials and regulators.
- Research strategies and present analyses on domestic and international spectrum management.
- Develop strategy and technical/policy analysis to support the accomplishment of customer objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in telecommunications, with strong working knowledge of market access for inflight systems preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Must be located in Singapore.
- Must already be eligible to legally work in Singapore.
Required knowledge, skills and talents
- Thorough understanding of various International Radio Regulations as it pertains to inflight or Aeronautical systems, including the rules of the FCC, Ofcom, and other key national regulatory authorities.
- Advise, develop and implemented a regulatory plan to obtain authorizations for a global satellite network.
- Negotiating skills and ability to strategically assess evolving positions during discussion.
- Skilled in advising the business on government affairs, regulatory, and spectrum management issues, and directing staff on technical, spectrum, engineering, and legal issues which impact Gogo’s business and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated persuasive argument and advocacy skills, balancing these with the art of negotiation, compromise, and sound judgment.
- Capable of understanding and solving complex telecommunications regulatory and licensing matters in numerous jurisdictions.
- Well organized and extremely detail orientated, with a proven ability to successfully project manage and report out on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Work harmoniously with others at all levels.
- Can-do attitude and collaborative work style.
Preferred knowledge, skills and talents
- Experience building and nurturing global partnerships; managing communications, working with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, legal, etc.), and directing proposal development.
- Capable of working in time compressed, highly dynamic and potentially ambiguous client situations to ensure milestones and deliverables are achieved.
