Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

The Director, Reputation & Engagement, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Asia Pacific is an important role leadership role in our Asia Pacific Innovative Medicine (IM) Communication & Public Affairs Team (C&PA). The role is responsible for driving impactful engagement of our ~5,000 employees across Asia Pacific, supporting our Company Group Chairman (CGC) for Asia Pacific (AP) and Asia Pacific Leadership Team (APLT), as well as driving our corporate reputation across the region. The role reports directly to the Vice President, Communication & Public Affairs, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Asia Pacific and closely supports the Company Group Chairman, Asia Pacific. It serves as the leader of one of three C&PA Centers of Excellence in the region and is a core member of the Asia Pacific Communication & Public Affairs Leadership Team.

The role will:

  • Lead Employee Engagement efforts across Asia Pacific to engage and inspire our employees to deliver every day for the patients we serve
    • Develop and lead industry-leading employee engagement campaigns that inspire all levels of the organization to achieve even better results.
    • Develop targeted strategies for specific audiences across the region – our Top Senior Leaders, our People Leaders and all our employees.
    • Continually improve upon benchmarks within Asia Pacific through regular measurement and global benchmarks such as the annual Credo survey to understand the true impact of the work.
    • Create on-going points of interaction with the business, beyond specific campaigns, to enhance on-going, long-term employee reputation building.
    • Craft and execute strategies that shift employee experience from elevating engagement to creating true employee ambassadors that have impact for our organization externally.
    • Work closely with the Vice President, Communication & Public Affairs, to ensure a collaborative, engaged C&PA team culture that prioritizes impactful work and promotes strong work-life balance.
  • Provide strategic counsel and work directly with the CGC and other key members of the APLT to powerfully represent our business internally and externally
    • Counsel the CGC on any and all issues related to employee engagement and executive communication.
    • Own the executive communication strategy (external and internal) for the region – ensuring alignment and amplification between regional, market and global leadership communications.
    • Craft compelling speeches and presentations for the CGC for both internal and external audiences.
    • Strategically drive the online presence of the CGC and select APLT members.
    • Identify business aligned external opportunities for the CGC to actively shape the company’s operating environment across the region.
    • Play a key role in supporting the CGC engagement with NGOs and work with other partners such as Government Affairs and Market Access to develop a compelling engagement strategy for these stakeholders.
    • Partner very closely with the Senior Director, Strategy & PMO, AP in supporting the CGC and APLT.
    • Have responsibility for major internal meetings and kick-off events, as well as CPA driven initiatives such as regular town halls.
  • Drive our corporate reputation externally across Asia Pacific, supporting the shaping of our business environment
    • Lead key initiatives to shape our external market presence as Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine across the region.
    • Lead our online, digital and social media presence in AP, ensuring close alignment with local and global strategies.
    • Derive and share across the region key insights from our media monitoring and metrics - tracking our efforts and accelerating our future programs.
    • Partner closely with the Global Reputation & Engagement team to pull through and execute our global reputation strategy.
  • Lead the Asia Pacific Reputation & Engagement community of practice to provide guidance and counsel to local market communicators working in this area
    • Provide guidance, counsel and capability building for ~7 members of the Reputation & Engagement Community of Practice working across the region (not direct reports).
    • Have direct people management responsibility for 1 Senior Manager.
    • Partner closely with the Director, Enterprise Employee Communication, Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific to ensure strong enterprise and cross-sector alignment.
    • Provide strategic guidance and counsel where required to the C&PA Directors for each market and the Director, Portfolio Communication, Asia Pacific on topics of corporate reputation and employee engagement.
    • Identify ways to scale best practices across markets and break down silos within the team, and between the different parts of the region.
  • Actively represent Asia Pacific and engage with local, regional and global teams across Johnson & Johnson and around the world
    • Partner closely with the global Vice President, Reputation & Engagement to ensure strong alignment with global strategies and best practices.
    • Engage regularly with cross-sector colleagues across AP to create a true “one team” culture with peer CPA leaders
    • Work across sector lines to communicate powerfully with one Johnson & Johnson voice at key external and internal opportunities
    • Serve as an active and engaged member of the Asia Pacific Communication & Public Affairs Leadership Team – building a strong function across the region
    • Promote the development and movement of talent across the region – building future global leaders from AP
    • Deliver key capability building and best practice sharing initiatives, regionally and globally
    • Represent Asia Pacific at global forums and on global projects as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and above; advanced degree preferred
  • 10-15 years working experience in corporate communications
  • Healthcare industry and/or policy making environment experience preferred
  • Proactive attitude to identify and address opportunities
  • Strategic thinker with ability to develop robust strategies to inspire and engage employees, as well as drive our external narrative through our senior executives
  • Flawless English written, verbal and visual communication skills are a must
  • Strong understanding of Asia Pacific media
  • Experience leading teams across cultures
  • Exceptional communication and coordination skills in a complex organization with proven success navigating among multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously across geographies and time zones
  • Proven team leadership skills
  • Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities
  • Budget and agency management experience
  • Crisis management experience
