Greetings from your future manager

“Sustainability is at the heart of why our customers choose UPM Fibres. This role shapes that conversation — from EU regulation to key account partnerships and sustainable product development. You will be an integral part of our UPM Pulp commercial organization, working hand in hand with our sales and marketing teams, but also serve as a key link between our pulp customers and our Finnish and Uruguayan pulp and forestry operations, driving our UPM Fibres sustainability strategy forward. You will be joining the team at an exciting moment when the global UPM sustainability strategy is being renewed and you will be responsible for developing its implementation roadmap for our UPM Fibres Business Area“— Kati Kaskeala , VP, Marketing, Sustainability and Communications, UPM Fibres

What you will do

  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of the UPM Fibres sustainability strategy across our Fibres Finland and Fibres Uruguay operations
  • Drive our approach to global, EU and national sustainability regulation — including the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and Green Claims Directive — translating policy into clear business action
  • Own UPM Fibres’ carbon agenda, developing our carbon roadmap, product carbon footprints and lifecycle assessments
  • Lead UPM Pulp’s sustainability service offering, defining how sustainability creates measurable value for our global B2B customers
  • Build and deepen sustainability partnerships with UPM Pulp key accounts — driving joint sustainability projects and co-marketing initiatives
  • Develop and maintain sustainability data tools and customer-facing resources
  • Build sustainability capability across our sales and commercial teams, making complex topics accessible and actionable
  • Represent UPM Fibres in internal and external sustainability networks and fora
  • Manage and support the development of a sustainability specialist

  • You have a university degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • You are highly knowledgeable about EU sustainability regulation and global sustainability policy
  • You are a quick and curious learner with the capacity to digest large amounts of information and data and to prioritize, structure and communicate it to internal and external stakeholders
  • You are commercially minded: you understand how sustainability creates competitive advantage and customer value, not just compliance
  • You are a confident communicator with excellent influencing skills, equally comfortable in presentations to senior executives, customers and the media
  • You are effective at building trust across functions: sales, marketing, operations, group sustainability teams and external partners
  • You demonstrate the ability to lead at a strategic level while effectively managing and developing talent
  • You are a self-directed leader who brings clarity to complex, multi-stakeholder situations
  • You are fluent in English; other languages are considered an asset
