The Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning (DR/BCP) Specialist is responsible for safeguarding the organization's electronic data, data systems, and services by designing and implementing comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity programs. This role involves developing plans, policies, standards, guidelines, training programs, and a robust quality assurance process to ensure organizational resilience in the face of disruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive DR/BCP strategies, including policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Create detailed recovery plans for electronic data, data systems, and services to ensure continuity during disruptions.
- Identify critical business processes and design recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Program Development:
- Establish and maintain DR/BCP programs, incorporating risk assessments, impact analyses, and recovery strategies.
- Design and execute training programs to ensure staff preparedness and understanding of DR/BCP protocols.
- Develop a quality assurance process to test and validate DR/BCP plans regularly.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
- Ensure DR/BCP plans comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and update plans to address emerging risks and evolving organizational needs.
- Testing and Training:
- Coordinate regular testing of DR/BCP plans, including simulations and drills, to evaluate effectiveness.
- Provide training and awareness programs for employees to understand their roles in DR/BCP scenarios.
- Analyze test results and refine plans to address gaps and improve response readiness.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate DR/BCP plans into broader organizational strategies.
- Act as a point of contact during incidents, coordinating recovery efforts and communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Partner with IT, operations, and leadership to ensure alignment and support for DR/BCP initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Strong understanding of DR/BCP principles, risk assessment methodologies, and quality assurance processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for business continuity.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in DR/BCP (e.g., CBCP, MBCP, or related certifications).
- Experience with business impact analysis (BIA) and risk assessment tools.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and data recovery technologies.
