Role Description
A unique opportunity to be involved at Georgian Bay Spirit Company’s state of the art facility, the Distiller is accountable to the Distillery Manager for assisting with the day-to-day operation located in Collingwood. Leveraging your experience and strong work ethic, you will help maximize the efficiency of inputs through manufacturing our full spirit portfolio from liquid to packaging. You will be responsible for assisting in all distillery operations, participating in a small team that is passionate about spirits. This includes helping to run everything to do with our facility to produce our award-winning Spirits like Gin, Vodka and Whisky.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assists with the day-to-day operation of the distillery, production of our core spirits, ensuring that volume and quality meet our exacting standards.
- Works with distillery team to improve and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP). Where necessary helps in developing and updating SOPs.
- Works closely with the operations team securing materials, loading and unloading shipments, blending and bottling finished goods
- Responsible for tracking inventory levels, shipping and receiving, and keeping accurate records.
- R&D and New Product Development – Distillation time allocated as needed
- Loads and unloads inbound and outbound trucks, receiving and shipping raw materials, direct materials, and finished goods.
- Assists in packaging on the bottling line, labelling and filling bottles to specification, and packaging orders for shipment.
- Working on the bottling line and assisting the Distilling Specialist for all duties related to manufacturing with scheduled flex labor when needed.
- Works to ensure production plan and timelines are met.
- Maintains a safety-first culture by supporting and following all company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintains a continuous improvement mindset of both product and process.
- Cleans and maintains all equipment to ensure they are in good working order and meeting any and all health regulations.
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment according to our program.
- Track and record all production numbers (batches/lot codes) to ensure accurate and up-to-date records for stock, ordering, and any government reporting.

What do you need:
- Formal brewing/distilling education an asset.
- Minimum 1 year experience in beverage alcohol production (preference in working with distilled spirits).
- Hands on experience distilling, evaluating spirit and making cuts an asset.
- Mechanically inclined (Pumps, Product transfers, Cookers, Fermenters, Pot Still, Continuous Distillation).
- High volume & fast paced industrial production experience an asset.
- NGS manufacturing or high proof alcohol production experience welcomed.
- Experience in fast paced production environments an asset.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Forklift certification an asset, or willing to learn.
- Continuous Improvement mindset (HACCP, sanitation, efficiency).
- Self-motivated with the proven ability to successfully manage a variety priorities and responsibilities.
- Able to work varied shifts, long hours on occasion, including weekends when required, and be able to comfortably lift loads up to 50lbs..
- Knowledge of software platforms and MS Office considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
