Mō te tūnga | About the Role


We have an opportunity for an Diversional Therapist, to join us at Burwood Hospital in our wider Older Person - s Health and Rehabilitation Service.

This role is within the Burwood Day Clinic working with people who have significant mental health related conditions and require ongoing assessment and rehabilitation. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists and be part of a wider multidisciplinary team. The position involves working under the direction of Occupational Therapists in the smooth running of the service provision and delivery of activities within the Day clinic setting.

You will bring a strong desire to be part of a team with an eagerness to be your best and be dedicated to continued learning and striving for the best patient outcomes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to follow directions are essential to your success for delivering treatment in a rehabilitation environment. You will also have good basic computer skills.

Applicants who do not hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Social and Community Services (Level 4), must be open to completing this training as part of their suitable appointment.

In this role, you will be responsible for:


  • Following rehabilitation and treatment plans prescribed by the Occupational Therapist
  • Develop and run suitable group activities to meet treatment goals
  • Support wellness and participation within the Burwood day clinic programme
