Divisional Accounting Supervisor - AR
Schedule/Hours: Mon-Friday (Exempt)
This position is responsible for:
Under the general supervision of the Divisional Accounting Manager, the Accounting Supervisor performs accounting functions and financial analysis for the Florida Division. The incumbent will perform transactional and analytical accounting functions for divisional headquarters and analytical accounting functions for other locations under his/her purview. He/she serve as a backup for accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The incumbent will perform basic accounting function to include posting, verifying entries, recognizing and recording income, issuing disbursements, balancing and reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements in order to properly record and maintain financial records. He/she will supervise, train and manage divisional accounting staff to ensure the application of basic accounting principles and compliance with TSA policies and procedures, GAAP and federal laws and regulations. The incumbent supervises two (2) support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews, analyzes, and approves accounts payable and receivable batches and transactions prepared by local accounting personnel before allowing posting to the general ledger.
Reviews and approves daily accounting transactions as it relates to receivables, bank transactions and journal entries; performs account reconciliations and general ledger review on a regular basis.
Provides guidance and training to local accounting personnel in areas of responsibility related to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), non-profit accounting, managerial and cost accounting, while ensuring that appropriate accounting principles are applied at the transaction level.
Supervises and supports the accounting staff of the Divisional Accounting Department, including, but not limited to, reviewing and approving all cash receipts/invoicing transactions, billing support to the local units, and payables/payment invoices transactions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Knowledge of basic double-entry accounting and fund accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, and practices.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting systems and procedures.
Ability to apply complex procedures requiring independent judgment.
Ability to prepare routine and special financial reports and records.
Ability to obtain numerical totals and balances and to verify information from complex forms and transfer to computers or manual reports. Ability to accept fiscal responsibility of assigned functionalized accounts.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all information associated with the job.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to keypunch information into a computer.
Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.
Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations repeatedly, rapidly and accurately.
Ability to operate various general office equipment including a computer and 10-key calculator.
Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business or finance;
AND
Five (5) years’ experience utilizing a computerized accounting system (Great Plains preferred) with exposure to double-entry fund accounting, experience in the month-end and year-end closing processes and preparing monthly and quarterly accounting reports for management; experience in Great Plains (GP Dynamics 2010) preferred with at least two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
