Urban Paws is a full-service pet concept that started 18 years ago, with a dream to be the urban village that provides high quality care services in all areas for our loyal furry companions. We have since expanded to 3 outlets and offer daycare, grooming & spa services as well as overnight pet staycation spaces for all pets. We believe that in our busy Urban Cityscape, our centres are much needed support units for the modern family that are essential to cultivate emotionally and socially balanced dogs.

Opportunities & Role

As a daycare assistant, you will be expected to work in a team to ensure the safety of the dogs under our care at all times. You will also need to keep the dogs stimulated physically and mentally through pack walks, indoor activities and outdoor excursions in our pet taxi. This is a high energy and fun position that requires a lot of physical activity and good dog handling skills.

We are looking for individuals who see working with dogs as a viable career and are looking to develop such committed individuals with both in house and external training as well as clear career pathways.

The specifics of this role as detailed below:

• Go out on excursions with the dogs
• Swim dogs safely
• Wash and blow dogs
• Able to handle up to 6 dogs on leash of varying sizes in pack walks
• Meticulous about each dog's dietary needs and temperament.
• Able to read dogs competently and react swiftly
• Ensure the safety of dogs at all times, breaking up fights between dogs or ensuring that outside dangers are minimised.
• Keeping our programs stimulating and exciting for the dogs
• Work as a team, looking out for your team mates while discharging your own responsibilities well.

As extensive dog handling training is necessary, candidates should be able to commit for a minimum of 6 months or have prior professional experience with handling dogs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 36 per week
