The primary function of this position is to supply customers by making P&D deliveries of cylinder products by palletized trucks on a rotating basis according to ALC guidelines and procedures, using appropriate equipment, complying with hazardous materials transportation laws and regulations, and ensuring that ALC's safety and quality objectives are promoted.

Obtains his or her itinerary in the morning and ensures that it contains all necessary information.

Adequate customer service:

  • Provides prompt and courteous delivery of cylinder gasses and/or welding supplies (If applicable to the location).
  • Picks up empty cylinders as required.
  • Maintains a personal liaison with Customers, Account Executives, Warehouse, and Customer Service teams.

Loads and unloads trucks:

  • Loads and unloads trucks with other team members and ensures trucks are loaded efficiently and in accordance with Transport Canada and MTO regulations (When required).
  • Applies dangerous goods placards as required in compliance with TDG regulations.
  • Follow CMS (Cylinder Management System) Policies, Procedures and regulations.
  • Pick your own load of cylinders (when required), plan out your day based on items dispatched for you, drive to required sites and pick up empties then offload trucks upon return (when required).

Truck equipment and maintenance:

  • Ensures that maintenance and general appearance of the truck and all equipment used in the performance of his/her duties are properly maintained.
  • Contacts the CMS team immediately with any system related problems.

Cylinder inspection:

  • Inspects all cylinder ships and returns as to the condition and reports any damage by tagging the cylinder and noting the customer information and condition on the tag and any other applicable documents.
  • Uses the Quality System to record defective cylinders and customer complaints.

Administrative tasks:

  • Issues accurate delivery notes and receipts for all products supplied and returned from customers to assure correct invoicing.
  • Maintains accurate truck records, including ELD (Management System Program) PANDA, TDG and WHMIS documentation, highway log, and follows all CMS procedures.

Shipping/Receiving (if needed):

  • Prepares cylinders for filling.
  • Pick the cylinders from a pick list and set up pallets for delivery.
  • Work within a high volume environment and be able to prioritize his/her duties
  • Being able to move cylinders throughout the yard site location.
  • Loads and unloads trucks with other team members and ensures trucks are loaded efficiently following all Air Liquide policies and procedures in accordance and compliance with Transport Canada and MTO regulations.
  • Performs necessary checks of essential equipment (Forklift, Cylinder carts, etc..)
  • Handles, identifies, sorts, prepares and conditions cylinders in a safe manner.
  • Maintains quality service by following company standards, policies and procedures
  • Reports and assists in the investigation of customer complaints, defects; quarantines and notifies supervisor and head of QC of non-conforming products.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Holds a Class DZ or AZ License.
  • Champion safety and remain conscientious and attentive on the road.
  • Record of safe and competent driving as demonstrated on a driver's abstract, including a clean motor vehicle record (CVOR).
  • Have, or be willing to obtain, hazardous materials WHMIS (ALC can help with the process and training will be provided).
  • Pass MOT physical, drug test, and criminal background check.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and days of the week, including the flexibility to work required hours.
  • Ability to record applicable freight information on portable computers and printers, and match information on freight bills (training will be provided).
  • Safely coordinate and execute the pick-up and delivery of freight efficiently, and safely operate a forklift (training will be provided).
  • Build and maintain positive, long-term customer relationships.
  • Drive an average of 100 kms a day and collaboratively work on the dock during your shift as needed (ALC Bramalea, GTA and Surrounding areas in Ontario).
  • Ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs.
  • Capable of comfortable walking, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to work safely, indoor and outdoor, in adverse weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally, you bring 2-5 years of driving experience.
  • Experience driving similar equipment, especially in various traffic and adverse weather conditions, is a bonus.
  • Forklift certificate (if not currently certified, training will be provided)
