Entry Level CDL A Delivery Driver

Position Purpose:

This is an entry-level driver training position designed for individuals working toward or holding a CDL A license. The role involves operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, regional, and/or overnight routes to deliver and unload food and related products. All routes must be completed safely and in compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Successfully complete driver training program requirements
• Assist and learn from experienced driver trainers during deliveries
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer per DOT standards
• Ensure proper loading, securing, and documentation of freight
• Deliver customer orders as scheduled, unload products, and secure proper signatures
• Collect payments as required and process returns
• Maintain accurate logs and records of hours of service
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safety guidelines
• Perform housekeeping duties for vehicles and equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent
• Valid CDL A license (or CDL permit for trainees)
• Must be 21 years of age
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (past 3 years)
• Ability to pass a road test, background check, and drug screening
• Current DOT health card or ability to obtain one
• Ability to lift and move freight (10–35 lbs regularly, up to 60–90 lbs occasionally)
• Ability to use a two-wheeler, lift gate, and related equipment

Preferred:

• 0–6 months CDL experience (for external hires)
• Previous experience in delivery or food distribution (a plus)
