Global Cathodic Protection Inc. has been contracted by the City of Ottawa to work on their municipal watermains. We expect the project to begin on Oct 6th or Oct 14th and wrap up by middle of November or possibly end of November.

All candidates must live in Ottawa as there is no travel allowance or hotel accommodations available.

Job Duties – Volumetric Mixer Driver / Operator (Gravel)

• Vehicle Operation (DZ Class Licensed Driver)
• Safely operate and drive a volumetric mixer truck, transporting gravel to and from job sites.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with MTO regulations.
• Maneuver truck in tight or busy work zones, adhering to traffic laws and company safety policies.
• Properly load and secure gravel for safe transport.
• Gravel Mixing, Spreading & Placement
• Operate mixer controls to discharge gravel as specified by supervisors or project requirements.
• Spread and distribute gravel evenly to road cuts, trenches, or restoration areas.
• Adjust flow rates and monitor delivery to ensure correct amounts are placed.
• Communicate with ground crew to coordinate placement and ensure worksite efficiency.
• Jobsite Support & Labour Assistance
• Assist crew members with general labour tasks such as raking, shoveling, and compacting gravel.
• Help with traffic control setup and safe movement of trucks/equipment in active work zones.
• Tow trailers or haul additional materials/supplies if required.
• Equipment & Truck Maintenance
• Clean and wash truck, mixer components, and tools at the end of each shift.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintain fuel, fluid, and grease levels as required.
• Ensure tools and equipment on the truck are organized and secured.
• Safety & Compliance
• Follow all company safety policies, OHSA standards, and environmental regulations.
• Wear and maintain proper PPE at all times.
• Ensure gravel disposal and placement comply with municipal and project requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training.
• Other Duties
• Support operators and labourers with additional site tasks as directed.

Keep accurate logs and paperwork related to truck operation and material delivery.

There is no work with Global Cathodic Protection Inc. after this project in 2025. You will be laid off at the end of the project in November 2025. Global will be returning to Ottawa in the Spring of 2026 to complete the second half of the contract. Candidates can reapply next year.

All candidates must wear appropriate PPE Hard Hat, Boots and Vest. Global will supply eye protection, gloves and ear buds. All candidates must complete on-line safety courses (prior) before start date. All candidates must complete and employment prior to start of the project.

Pay is weekly on Thursdays via direct deposit.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 weeks

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
