About the Role

ATSICHS delivers a range of kindergartens across Brisbane South and Logan through a unique holistic approach to early education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The role works heavily with children in delivering play-based learning opportunities that aim to improve the social, cultural, and developmental milestones of children. The role also works to engage families, ensuring family awareness and interaction into their child's learning journey is supported.

Duties

  • Engage community members and provide support to parents and caregivers in enrolling their child into ATSICHS kindy, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Effectively build secure and respectful relationships with children by acknowledging and adapting learning experience and interaction approach considering each child's unique cultural, physical, intellectual, social and personal experiences.
  • Provide interactions and learning experiences with children that are playful across all learning and teaching interactions, while maintaining a professional supervisory adult presence.
  • Deliver targeted care and education experience that are diverse in being planned, spontaneous, real-life and imaginary experiences.
  • Deliver targeted care and education experiences that actively provide joy and excitement to children and their sacred childhood, including delivering experiences that foster children's curiosity and creativity.
  • Engage with children through the modelled use of rich language and meaningful dialogues (with children and colleagues).
  • Maintain accurate and detailed learning portfolios of all children with all learning assessed and documented each team.
  • Provide all interactions and learning experiences with children that continually seek to maximise their potential and provides a strong foundation for their future lifelong learning journey.
  • Thoroughly supervise children, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children are maintained, including regular head count at designated daily times/activities.
  • Record and show caregivers their child's daily learning activities and participation at Kindy through appropriate online app (e.g. Storypark).
  • Provide critical reflection of personal pedagogy and program implementation, identifying and actioning opportunities for improvement.

Benefits

  • Fixed term contract ending 12 December 2025.
  • Working part time hours - Wednesday to Friday 08:00am - 02:00pm.
  • Annual Salary of $64,730 + 12% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging (Increases your take home pay).

COVID - 19 Requirements

  • Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid 19 vaccine is encouraged.
Skills and Experiences:
Required

  • Completed or currently studying Certificate III in Early Childhood Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and assist early years teaching pedagogy, aligned with ATSICHS values. Ability to deliver pedagogy approaches that differentiate based on individual child's needs and developmental abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Framework (NQF) for early education and care.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and assist frameworks in the direct delivery of child interactions and supports.
  • Ability to proactively assist with parents and caregivers, ensuring a strong connection with their child's early learning journey.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist immediate safety responses to children, including diligence in proactive management of safety hazards and risks.
Additional Requirements

  • Current National Police Check.
  • Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply.
  • Driver's Licence.
  • Evidence of Work Rights.
