Early Years Deputy Manager

About the Role:

The Deputy Manager will be responsible for the operation of the early years service in the absence of the manager. He/she is promoted to this role with a proven record of leadership and management skills and an ability to take initiative.

The Deputy Manager will be selected to complement the skill-set of the Manager to implement best practice and high quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager in the management of the overall setting ;
  • Ensure rosters & staffing are well organised.
  • Meet with parents of prospective children and carry out introductory meetings.
  • Oversee the daily running of the crèche; including but not limited to reviewing daily programmes, observations, staff performance and administration duties.
  • Ensure the crèche operates within the policies and procedures along with ratio, legislation & any regulations requirements.
  • Ensure any reporting requirements are monitored, maintained and completed on time including accident forms, risks assessments and to ensure that staff record keeping is monitored.
  • Organize systems throughout the setting including paperwork, staffing, queries and rooms
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of TUSLA Pre-School Regulations
  • Maintain a professional approach to dealing with parents and the childcare team.
  • Lead, coach and develop a highly functioning team of educators.
  • Develop positive and open professional relationships with families, children and staff
  • Provide effective support, guidance & mentoring to staff members of the crèche
  • Additional duties as required by Management such as attending cpd and board meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience in a crèche supervisory/ management role is a requirement
  • Minimum of 3 years’ childcare/creche experience
  • Hold a qualification equivalent to Level 6 in Childcare. Level 7 or higher is desirable.
  • Competent computer literacy
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to manage the running of a crèche and staff as well as the ability to implement quality early childhood curriculum and creative skills to develop age appropriate activities will be of the utmost importance in this position.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Full knowledge of TUSLA regulations and requirements
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: €29,000.00-€34,320.00 per year
