Job Purpose:
? To be trained to undertake same responsibilities as Early Years Practitioner;
? To contribute to a high quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Apprentices will carry out the following duties under close supervision and as part of an established training scheme.
? Work (under supervision) with children in the Setting, to provide all aspects of care and supporting learning opportunities, which may include washing, changing and feeding
? Undertake training to obtain recognised qualifications, including completing assignments on time, and attending all College sessions/ tutorials (if applicable);
? Uphold standards within the Setting by adhering to all policies and procedures;
? Strive to safeguard children by working to the organisation’s safeguarding Code of Conduct;
? Assist with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children;
? Provide adult interaction with children in the Setting;
? Know and implement the Setting’s confidentiality policy. The above outlines the duties required for the time being to indicate the level of responsibility. It is not a comprehensive or exclusive list and duties may be varied from time to time which do not change the general character of the job or the level of responsibility entailed.
1. Supervision and Management:
The apprentice will not have any supervisory responsibility for other staff, colleagues, volunteers etc.
2. Creativity and Innovation: The apprentice will undertake basic nursery assistant duties under the supervision of a qualified staff member. The apprentice will collect information and complete tasks necessary for their Apprenticeship course There is a need for good communication skills within the role both written & verbal as it involves liaising, face to face contact with service users, carers, family members and other professionals on a daily basis
3. Links with other officers, Service users or Members of the Public: The apprentice will be required to communicate with service users, staff members, other officers and members of the public. The purpose of the contact includes passing relevant information over, routine and general enquires in the course of completing designated tasks.
4. Levels of Responsibility: Decision making is extremely limited. Under close instruction and supervision the post holder may occasionally be required to make decisions to complete the tasks allocated.
5. Effects of Decisions: Decisions will assist with the efficient delivery of the team’s service to service users
6. Resources: Responsibility for personal health & safety. Communicate Health and Safety concerns to team leader or management. Adherence to fire regulations
7. Work Demands: May need to prioritise allocated work to ensure that completed in a timely manner. Will be expected to deal with enquiries relating to work subject area as and when required and under supervision Required to work in a flexible manner to respond to the needs of the service.
8. Physical Demands: Following training and under appropriate supervision -Moving and handling of service users and other equipment required to deliver care. Responding to variable behaviour patterns from service users.
9. Working Conditions: The role is predominantly within the school, a percentage of time will be dedicated to administration and I.T. activity. May be required to travel to other office sites for the purpose of work and training.
10. Work Context: Daily - contact with service users and limited contact with members of the public visiting the setting. Apprentices will never be left on their own to answers questions or make comment upon educational plans. 9. Knowledge and Skills: The role of the apprentice is to learn about and gain experience of the work environment. Will need to have GCSE grade C in English and Maths
Hours: 32.50 per week

Training Provided:
You will achieve the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship. You will attend college 1 day a week during term time and have frequent visits into the workplace from a work based assessor.
Additional Information:
Maths and Eng level 4 or above (or equivalent) are desired.
