Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Foreman include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively participate in safety meetings and safety culture
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Organize the job site and crew to carry out the project plan.
  • Ensure employees are following safety procedures.
  • Completing toolbox talks and site inspections weekly.
  • Assist with the coordination of machine and manpower movement throughout the project.
  • Establish and communicate tasks to crew members to ensure they clearly understand their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervise all phases of the project and ensure quality control testing is completed and accurate.
  • Attend site meetings when required.
  • Perform work direction talks.
  • Complete daily reports
  • Ability to read blueprints and complete tasks without guidance or supervision.
  • Understand elevations including how to properly read grade stakes.
  • Strong knowledge is understanding locates and to properly identify underground hazards. (ex. Locate flags, old ditch lines)

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Effective attention to detail with highest degree of accuracy
  • Good analytical ability
  • Ability to work with-out supervision.
  • Must have proven ability to work in tight spots.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Must have reliable transportation in and around Edmonton.
  • Ability to work in outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
  • Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support.
  • CSTS-09, or CSTS- 2020 required, ground disturbance, leadership of excellence, and first aid.
  • Successful candidates are required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for pre access to some sites when required is an asset.
  • Candidates must successfully complete Tierra Constructions Orientation prior to work

Schedule:

  • Average of 10+/- Hour shifts
  • Day shift
  • Overtime as required.
  • In-town work
  • Monday-Saturday Schedule (Summer)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $36.00-$42.00 per hour
