Ecosystem Manager, ELLIS Institute Finland
Join ELLIS Institute Finland to turn leading AI research into impact. You will grow and manage an external ecosystem around the Institute, consisting of industry, public actors, investors, accelerators, and founders both in Finland and internationally. The role focuses on developing external relationships, facilitating collaboration between the external stakeholders and ELLIS researchers and innovators, and setting up scalable ways of working.
Your daily work environment will be at the ELLIS Institute. The leadership of the Institute will provide strategic and practical guidance. You will also be part of Aalto University’s Corporate Relations unit, where you will receive professional support from your colleagues and line manager to succeed in your role.
What you’ll do:

Build and manage the ecosystem: identify, engage, and nurture relationships across enterprises, SMEs, public organizations, ecosystems, investors, accelerators, and founder communities in accordance with the ELLIS Institute mission and strategy

Enable collaborations: scope opportunities with researchers and partners, coordinate discussions, and maintain systematic documentation

Foster research‑to‑impact: strengthen awareness and build pathways to real‑world application (e.g., research collaborations, pilots, or new ventures) and connect researchers with relevant networks and opportunities

Create scalable processes: establish, pilot and refine practices for discovery, matchmaking, and follow‑through on collaborations

Communications and community: organize and participate in Institute and ecosystem workshops and events, share opportunities, and highlight success stories

The exact focus and emphasis of the role can be adjusted based on your expertise and interests
To excel in this role, you should have:

A Master’s or Ph.D. degree, ideally with subject matter expertise in artificial intelligence

Experience in corporate partnerships and innovation/RDI or ecosystem building in tech or research environments

Exposure to the business ecosystem and networks across it: corporations, SMEs, startups, investors/accelerators, and relevant public actors
-
Strong organizational, collaborative, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
-
Openness to diverse work tasks and responsibilities

Prior work with universities/research groups and knowledge of funding pathways and project preparation is an advantage

Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Finnish (highly preferred)
