Gate City Charter School for the Arts is seeking a compassionate Educational Assistant (EA) to provide educational support within the 3rd grade general education classroom. This role entails support to the general classroom students including those with IEPs.

Responsibilities include assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students throughout their day; implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior and safety; and providing information to appropriate school personnel in accordance with students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The Educational Assistant works with students, parents, staff, and the community in a professional, respectful manner, and upholds school policies and procedures. The Educational Assistant demonstrates patience, compassion, and empathy when working with the identified student and all other students in our inclusive, enriching school environment. Demonstrating strong management and organizational skills, as well as excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills are a critical component in this position.

Gate City Charter School for the Arts is a thriving public, chartered school located in Merrimack NH; we are committed to providing innovative educational experiences by integrating the arts into all academic disciplines. We house one classroom per grade level for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, with one teacher and one educational assistant in each classroom. As a multi-grade level school we have the opportunity to create a strong sense of community and provide many opportunities for students of all ages to develop strong leadership skills. We aim to foster a creative, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where students can develop their individual potential through both academic and artistic endeavors.

Gate City Charter School for the Arts uses an arts-integrated curriculum to develop dynamic, effective learning opportunities which inspire student excellence in academics and the arts and promote social-emotional growth. Through a variety of pathways, our students cultivate the knowledge, creativity, and inquisitive nature which will foster a love of learning. We use arts integration in every classroom as an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support and reinforce classroom objectives in a respectful, patient, responsive manner.
• Implement students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504s, and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) accommodations, supports, and goals to best support the identified student in their education and social emotional well-being. Record progress notes and behavioral data.
• Monitor the students within the classroom, school, and/or playground for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Exemplify school values and respectfully communicate with all colleagues in a professional manner.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities in an educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for arts and education, along with a willingness to make the educational environment fun, inviting, and supportive.
