As an Educational Assistant will assist with Kindergarten to Grade 6 program delivery for students who have mild to severe behavioural challenges and students who have autism. The successful candidate will support students with developing and demonstrating positive behaviour and social skills while developing academic skills

• supporting students with mild to severe emotional/behavioural or physical/medical disabilities in the Connections or Interactions programs
• assisting with the facilitation of students into the regular programs
• assisting with planning and adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students under the guidance of the teacher
• developing and demonstrating positive behaviour and social skills
• providing one-on-one and small group support
• supervising students at school arrival and departure, recess and lunch
• assisting students with personal care including toileting

• a two year post secondary program in a related field
• a minimum of two years of related experience preferably in an educational environment
• experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
• experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges and physical/medical disabilities
• proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
• excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
• NVCI, First Aid

$22.64 - $28.70 per hour
