Summary/Objective We are seeking a skilled Electrical Drafter to implement electrical systems for large automation machinery used in pallet assembly. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical design and automation, with a focus on creating clear and quality documentation. This role involves working closely with our mechanical engineers, electrical/control engineers, and manufacturing team to design quality electrical systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Electrical System Drafting: Draft electrical systems, including power distribution, control circuits, and wiring schematics for large-scale automation machinery.
- Schematic Development: Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical)
- Collaboration: Partner with our mechanical engineers and electrical/control engineers to integrate electrical systems with mechanical components and automation software.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), wiring diagrams, and user manuals, to support manufacturing and maintenance.
- Compliance: Ensure designs meet industry standards (e.g., UL, CE) and customer specifications for safety and performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize electrical designs, reduce costs, and enhance system efficiency.
Required Skills and Experience
- Education: Associate's degree in CAD, Electrical Drafting, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in electrical drafting, preferably in automation machinery or industrial manufacturing.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar).
- Experience with control systems, sensors, and motor drives.
- Understanding of power distribution and grounding systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CAD certification) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the pallet assembly or woodworking machinery industry.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Location
This is a full-time exempt position. Schedule is standard business hours with the occasional need for additional hours depending on project load. The position is based in Viking's main office location.
Travel
This position may be expected to travel to customer sites 3-5 times per year.
