Rowa Tunnelling Logistics AG is a Swiss company specialising in the design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of proprietary conveyor systems, tunnelling logistics systems and associated machinery for major tunnelling and infrastructure projects worldwide. As part of our continued project activities in Australia, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Electrical Supervisor / PLC Specialist) to support the electrical installation, commissioning and operational handover of our proprietary systems on Australian projects. The successful applicant will form part of Rowa's international project delivery team and will be deployed to Australian and overseas projects as operational requirements arise.
The Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for the engineering supervision, coordination and execution of the electrical installation and commissioning activities associated with Rowa's proprietary conveyor systems and machinery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and detailed engineering planning of the jobsite electrical installation and commissioning activities.
- Overseeing the delivery and inspection of electrical equipment and control system components.
- Supervising the electrical installation, assembly and commissioning activities.
- Providing technical instructions and guidance to installation and commissioning personnel.
- Managing and coordinating customer electrical installation and commissioning teams.
- Verifying that electrical installation and commissioning activities comply with technical specifications and quality standards.
- Undertaking engineering assessment, execution and verification of required site modifications, including cabling, parameterisation, commissioning adjustments and system configuration.
- Completing and documenting electrical testing, commissioning and commissioning acceptance protocols.
- Verifying the functional operation of electrical, PLC and safety control systems prior to operational handover.
- Reporting project progress to senior project management.
- Providing technical training and support to customer operating and maintenance personnel during commissioning and initial operation.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will possess:
- A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the electrical installation and commissioning of industrial equipment or heavy industrial systems.
- Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial automation.
- Experience with the commissioning and optimisation of PLC-controlled industrial systems.
- Experience in electrical testing, fault finding and system commissioning.
- Experience supervising electrical installation and commissioning teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as the lead electrical engineering representative on site while coordinating with customer personnel and Rowa headquarters.
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and provide technical guidance to customer personnel during installation, commissioning and operational handover.
- Demonstrated experience with the electrical commissioning, operation or technical support of Rowa conveyor systems and machinery, or comparable proprietary heavy industrial conveyor systems and machinery used in tunnelling, together with the ability to independently commission complex PLC-controlled conveyor systems and safely place them into operational service.
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience delivering electrical installation and commissioning activities across multiple project sites and the ability to mobilise between projects as required.
- Ability to work on project sites throughout Australia and internationally as required.
Experience with conveyor systems, tunnelling, mining, materials handling, or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
