Position Overview
Colon Community Schools is seeking a highly organized and professional Elementary Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the elementary office. This role serves as a key point of contact for students, families, and staff, while providing direct administrative support to the Elementary Principal.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-service driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors
  • Maintain accurate student records using PowerSchool (or similar system)
  • Process student enrollments, withdrawals, and transfers
  • Support daily attendance tracking and communication with families
  • Assist with pupil accounting and state reporting requirements
  • Provide clerical support to the Special Education department
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and office procedures
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and communications
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information (FERPA compliance)
  • Manage office supplies and support general office operations
  • Assist with substitute coordination and staff absence tracking
  • Maintain student immunization records and ensure compliance
  • Perform general clerical duties (filing, copying, scanning, etc.)
  • Collaborate with staff to support student and building needs

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Previous administrative or school office experience preferred
  • Experience with PowerSchool or similar student information systems preferred
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
