EYL 365 Project is currently accepting applications for a STEAM - Science and Engineering Youth Educator Artist for an 12 week program on Mondays between the hours of 4:00 - 5:30PM beginning in October in Southeast DC.

Youth Educators must have demonstrated previous experience teaching STEAM , ideally in Washington, DC Public School settings. Additional experience with entrepreneurship, marketing and branding is also a plus!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach elementary and middle school engineering and science classes
  • Deliver / Teach lessons that provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences
  • Effectively manage classroom behavior while also creating a safe and predictable classroom environment
  • Present age-appropriate information
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate projects with a focus on technology concepts and operations, programming and physical computing, and engineering design
  • Create program supply lists for lessons that are within budget expectations and submitted by the deadline
  • Provide rigorous and challenging activities and lessons for the students’ benefit and are able to differentiate instruction to support struggling learners while challenging quicker learners.
  • Post and review daily learning objectives and agenda with the students in relation to curricula objectives
  • Conduct a warm-up (Do Now) and closing activity each class period

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree( Mathematics and/or Science and/or STEAM preferred or related field of study.
  • Delivers STEAM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Create engaging lessons that integrate technology, science and engineering that also develops student critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
