Job Summary
The Emergency Department Nurse Manager provides 24-hour leadership and operational oversight for emergency services, including trauma, medical, surgical, and pediatric emergencies. The Nurse Manager ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards while fostering a culture of teamwork, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care.
Job Summary
The Emergency Department Nurse Manager provides 24-hour leadership and operational oversight for emergency services, including trauma, medical, surgical, and pediatric emergencies. The Nurse Manager ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards while fostering a culture of teamwork, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee staffing, patient throughput, and triage operations to maintain timely and safe emergency care.
- Ensure compliance with ENA, CMS, and EMTALA standards.
- Collaborate with EMS and inpatient units to ensure seamless patient transfers.
- Lead programmatic oversight for Trauma, Stroke, and STEMI readiness, ensuring compliance with state and national accreditation requirements.
- Partner with Quality and Medical Staff to review performance data and implement improvement plans.
- Ensure disaster preparedness and emergency management coordination.
- Hire, train, and evaluate nursing and paramedic staff.
- Ensure timely completion of certifications (ACLS, PALS/ENPC, TNCC, stroke education).
- Promote professional growth through mentorship, simulation, and scenario-based education.
- Manage department budget and supply utilization.
- Ensure compliance with charge capture, documentation, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in operating and capital budget planning.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Five years of emergency department nursing experience, with at least two years in a leadership or charge role.
- Current Arkansas RN license.
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS or ENPC within six months; TNCC within one year.
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or healthcare leadership degree.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification.
Compensation & Schedule
- Competitive pay commensurate with experience.
- Full-time, exempt position with 24-hour accountability for department operations.
- On-site leadership presence with flexibility for after-hours consultation as needed.
