Auckland Council’s Infrastructure & Environmental Services department has an opportunity within the Waste Customer & Operations team. Join our team as a permanent full time Enforcement Officer and play a pivotal role in upholding Auckland Council's Waste bylaws. Whilst the role is regionwide and requires travel throughout Auckland, it will be based in our CBD office on Albert Street.
As part of our dynamic team, you'll lead proactive and reactive enforcement activities, engaging with communities and stakeholders to increase public awareness and accountability for waste disposal. From educating communities, to responding to complaints, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring compliance with waste management regulations.
Day-to-day you aspects of the role:
- Issue warnings/penalties for breaches of relevant legislation and bylaws
- Investigate breaches/offences relating to Waste Bylaws. Preparing evidential records and case files for prosecution purposes
- Respond directly to customer service requests or information enquiries to curate an end to end experience driven by customer satisfaction
- Internal and external stakeholder relationship management/support

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in similar enforcement roles, coupled with a deep understanding of conflict resolution and adept problem-solving skills.
We will be specifically seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:
- A tertiary qualification in compliance, regulatory, enforcement, or equivalent field, backed by a minimum of 3 years' hands-on operational experience within compliance, regulatory, or enforcement operations in local or government departments.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Hold a valid full clean New Zealand driver's license.
