At the Centre for Industrial Mechanics at the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg, we are looking for a laboratory engineer to support us in developing mechanical and mechatronic devices for unmanned underwater vehicles in connection with an Innovation Fund project: https://innovationsfonden.dk/en/news/new-groundbreaking-technology-protect .

We are envisioning a suitable candidate to be able to coordinate between researcher and building caretakers etc. when establishing lab test setups, perform testing and designing appropriate sealings and joints for underwater manipulators.

Further we envision the candidate to be able to assist in certain laboratory teaching activities, e.g. instruction on lab equipment as well as constructively evaluation laboratory safety under testing conditions. Hence the work tasks consist of

  • Establishment of suitable test setups for underwater mechanisms
  • Development of suitable, watertight, mechanicsms together with PhD students. This includes selection of suitable preexisting solutions combined with custom made components
  • Ensuring lab safety in collaboration with the work environment safety group at the faculty.

For this position we require a candidate to have an engineering degree – either BEng og MSc in either mechanical or mechatronics engineering.

The position is time limited based on the duration of the project.

Expected start date: 1 st January 2026.

Expected end date: - 30 th June 2028.
