About the role
The Engineering Services Manager is responsible for the leadership, performance and compliance of all engineering, and facilities maintenance activities at the Mildura medicinal cannabis facility. The Engineering Services Manager provides strategic and operational leadership to engineering, facilities maintenance and functions to ensure uninterrupted operation, asset integrity, compliance and long-term site capability.
Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leading cross functional meetings and forums.
As the Engineering Service Manager, you will be
- Provide overall leadership, direction and coordination of all engineering, maintenance, utilities and facilities activities at the Mildura site, ensuring infrastructure and production equipment operate safely, reliably and efficiently to support manufacturing requirements;
Ensure facilities, utilities, equipment and engineering systems remain compliant with GMP, regulatory and quality requirements, including maintaining engineering policies, procedures and systems and supporting internal and external audits;
Lead investigations relating to equipment, utilities and facilities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions;
Establish and oversee preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programs to maximise asset reliability and minimise downtime, including planning and scheduling of maintenance and statutory compliance activities;
Monitor and report on maintenance and reliability KPIs, breakdown trends, backlog and asset performance to support data driven decision making;
Provide engineering leadership for capital projects and site upgrades from concept through to commissioning and handover, ensuring delivery is safe, on time, within budget and compliant with approvals and regulatory requirements;
Manage engineering and maintenance budgets, forecasts and cost control processes, and establish regular review forums to monitor performance, risks and key operational metrics and report to senior leadership;
Maintain awareness of industry developments, emerging technologies and regulatory changes, and identify opportunities to improve site capability, efficiency and compliance;
Support business continuity by developing and maintaining contingency and emergency response plans for critical utilities and infrastructure;
Partner with Quality, and Operations to support change control, deviation management and risk assessments related to engineering and facilities systems;
Ensure engineering and maintenance documentation is maintained, controlled and audit ready;
Set and maintain high safety standards across all engineering, maintenance and contractor activities and ensure safe systems of work are implemented and followed.
About you
Qualifications / Licences
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree or Advanced Diploma in an Engineering Field.
- Pre-employment Security and Health Screening
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position. Supporting multi-functional planning of equipment, staff or contractors with a proven track record planning in a 24/7 operation.
- Experience within Production Industry preferably with Automated equipment in a 24/7 operation.
- Lean / Six Sigma knowledge and experience.
- Experience with a multitude of planning tools.
- Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility with appropriate technical authority.
- Record of developing and managing major maintenance and engineering teams including the ability to communicate plans and requirements to other departments and member of the management team.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to solve both technical and resourcing issues.
- Strong analytical mindset with a problem solving approach to tasks and issues.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.
- Ability to lead, manage and coach a team.
- Proven ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders.
- A decision maker with strong commercial acumen.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of engineering and quality processes and systems.
- May be required to work outside of regular work hours.
