The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for the provision of compassionate and professional nursing care to all patients attending the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre.

The Enrolled Nursing position within the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre includes but is not limited to the Radiotherapy department, Oncology and Medical Officers Clinics.

The Enrolled Nurse is the patient's advocate and delivers high quality nursing care to patients of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District consistent with the LHDs policies, procedures and standards.

The Enrolled Nurse works under the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.

The Enrolled Nurse retains responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions.

Professional development and active participation in the service Quality Improvement program are integral components of the role. All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees.

The Enrolled Nurse without notation is to administer medications that are within their scope of practice

Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre.

The hospital is currently undergoing a significant $440M redevelopment that will redefine how healthcare is delivered within the Region.
