The Entry Level Machine Helper assists the primary machine operator by gathering materials for set up, preparing and moving finished materials with with the use of a forklift and clamp truck while ensuring efficient workflow and upholding the company’s exceptional quality standards. They may also assist with machine set up and operation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Collect and prepare appropriate paper rolls from warehouse, per job orders, utilizing clamp truck.
· Prepare pallets of finished sheets at the end of the production line and move to the appropriate area to stage for production.
· Assist operator with production and clean up as directed.
· Perform regular quality checks to ensure quality of sheets.
· Communicate job status and production concerns with lead and/or manager.
· Ensure all required documentation is completed.
· Follow all SQF and safety practices.
· Maintain good housekeeping.
· Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements include but not limited to:
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Forklift experience required. Clamp truck experience preferred.
- Exhibits excellent attendance.
- Able to operate pallet jacks, both electric and manual.
- Able to communicate effectively with management and team members.
- Able to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships in a culturally diverse environment.
- Self-motivated and focused on scheduler and management supplied instructions.
- Shows a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities.
- Ability to read and understand a job ticket in English, both printed and on the computer system.
- Able to read a ruler, understand measurements, and do basic math accurately.
- Able to operate and navigate computer systems to document production times and notes.
- Can differentiate colors.
- Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors repetitively throughout a shift: standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally and grasping firmly (up to 12 hour shifts).
- Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors frequently throughout a shift: reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the waist, pushing buttons, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling and pushing (up to 12 hour shifts).
- Production positions require the ability to safely lift up to 50lbs, 20+ feet in distance.
- Able to withstand exposure to loud noises, machinery and varying temperatures.
- Vision correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test).
- Willing to work in other departments or handle unique duties as needed.
- Availability for overtime as needed.
