Position Summary

The successful Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for promoting safe, professional work practices and conditions that are in compliance within safety policies and regulations. The candidate will also be responsible for making sure the organization is compliant with environmental regulations in areas such as air quality, waste, clean water, and pollution.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Identifying best practices and leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices
  • Update and maintain our 2 safety risk software platforms required by our customers
  • Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance
  • Management of two shop helpers that maintain plant janitorial duties, office upkeep, and the vehicle routine maintenance schedules. Assign shop helpers weekly safety inspections requirements.
  • Inspections include: fire extinguishers, ladders, eyewash stations, paint booth, blast booth, overhead crane, forklifts, electrical panels, emergency exits, stormwater collection, chemical labeling, defibrillator, first aid boxes, and lifting slings
  • Ensure safety policies and training are initiated for accident investigation, injury reduction, and records related to the safety department
  • Hazardous material management and transportation, and on-site property environmental assessment
  • Oversee hazardous waste, stormwater management, and other environmental aspects
  • Prepare and lead weekly safety meetings; and provide ongoing training on and off-site
  • Manager or shop helper that maintain plant janitorial duties, office upkeep, and the vehicle routine maintenance schedules
  • Some domestic travel to other company locations required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, Environmental or related field or equivalent work experience is required
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in leading safety programs
  • Possess a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations as they apply to the workplace (OSHA, NFPA, EPA)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the company
  • Mus be available and on call for safety and environmental emergencies

All candidates must be able to pass a drug test, pre-employment physical, and background investigation.
