About the role
We have an exciting opening to join our team of experienced Environmental Health Officers. Based in the vibrant cosmopolitan City of Boroondara, the role is responsible for:
Administering and implementing the provisions of public health legislation and standards through education, advice and enforcement to ensure a high standard of public health
Performing the duties of an authorised officer under the relevant provisions of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Food Act 1984, Tobacco Act 1987, Local Government Act 2020 and Environment Protection Act 2017 in accordance with Council policy and delegated authority.
Managing a diverse portfolio with exposure to a broad range of areas including mandatory food inspections, assessing new food business applications, food and water sampling, infectious disease outbreak investigation, nuisance investigations, tobacco education and enforcement and mosquito surveillance.
The role requires that you are available for afterhours work and participate in the emergency on-call roster.
A tools of trade vehicle is provided.
About you
To succeed in the role you will bring:
Experience and qualifications as a practicing Environmental Health Officer with relevant qualification
Demonstrated knowledge in interpretation and enforcement of relevant legislation and standards
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with the community and write clear reports
Demonstrated experience and confidence in identifying, making recommendations and solving potential public health problems
