Summary
Responsible to further advance and implement the Clinical ES Roadmap, which includes the systematic set-up and execution of “greener” clinical trials. Target is to minimize the own environmental footprint of Development and to act as enabler for reduced environmental impacts in before mentioned Business Units of Novartis by embedding a sustainability mindset across the organization and within its supply and value chain to ultimately minimize Novartis’ environmental impacts.
The Environmental Sustainability Project Manager supports the implementation and execution of diverse environmental sustainability projects and initiatives within clinical trials by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and providing data insights for improved decision making and the fulfillment of clinical trial emission reporting commitments.
About the Role
Key responsibilities but not limited to:
- Support the design and execution of key strategic sustainability initiatives to minimize the environmental footprint of clinical trials in line with the Clinical ES strategy.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate environmental sustainability in processes and decision-making of clinical trial design and operations.
- Develop data models and data analytics solutions for the measurement of Novartis clinical trials environmental footprint to ensure compliant disclosure of external reporting requirements. Drive the implementation and improvement of emission measurements across functions related to clinical trials.
- Lead matrix teams and enable the Green Trials Network and its individual workstreams to effectively achieve its objectives.
- Ensure effective communication and continuous improvement to reach high quality standards, productivity targets and operational excellence by leveraging change management principles and ensuring best practice sharing & knowledge exchange within Development and with key stakeholders across Novartis and externally.
Essential requirements:
- Extensive experience and successful performance and track record in managing multi-functional strategic Projects, Programs and Change Management with internal & external stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge about Clinical Development and Clinical Trial Operations as well as operational excellence project management.
- Proven analytical, process-oriented and data driven mindset. Proven self-starter with experience in initiating and ensuring delivery across geographically and functionally diverse teams by successfully managing interfaces to other functions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, problem solving, and consulting/facilitation skills.
- Previous experience in establishing a structure and mindset of continuous improvement & developing strategic and operational goals; can flexibly adapt to changing customer requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Advanced degree in science, engineering, business, or other related discipline required.
- Financial Management expertise

- Operations Management and Execution
