Job Description
The purpose of the Employee / Industrial Relations Business Partner role is to foster good relations and to develop, in conjunction with HRBP’s and senior managers, inclusive employee relations strategies to achieve business objectives in line with the HR Strategy. The role will provide expert advice and guidance to HRBP’s on both ER and IR matters and be familiar with all legal requirements and best practice in both ER and IR.
This role will be awarded on a personal contract basis.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the employee voice and employee concerns are considered in all significant changes and encourage and develop processes which ensure consistent and fair treatment for all staff.
- Develop effective working relationships with unions, HRBP’s and senior managers across the business to influence change and good practice.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining a positive work environment for staff and managers.
- Understand the need for business change in each area of the daa business and potential impacts on employees. Develop IR and ER strategies to achieve these in consultation with HRBP’s, executives and the Head of ER / IR.
- Interpret, advise on and manage awards, legislation, enterprise agreements and award negotiations
- Manage multiple union relationships, communicating across various methods, building strong stakeholder relationships.
- Assist the HRBP’s with negotiation processes associated with specific ER and IR and highlighting the overall company and ER implications of any proposals.
- Manage complex industrial matters and mitigate industrial risk where possible.
- Represent and advocate for daa and subsidiary companies in individual and group industrial disputes including before the Labour Court, and Workplace Relations Commission.
- Provide expert input to or manage specific cases as required through to resolution.
- Be actively involved in and lead when required, negotiations in relation to pay and benefits at local and Company level.
- Following consultation with the business, prepare and communicate changed ER policies and procedures to ensure a flexible work environment and the resolution of issues locally where possible.
- Participate in organisational projects and cross functional groups whether on secondment or otherwise and to provide professional IR and ER inputs to such projects.
Qualifications
- Experience dealing with ER issues in a unionised environment either on behalf of the Company or Employees
- People management experience in a comparable environment is an advantage
- Experience of advocating and managing third party cases is an advantage
- Excellent influencing, communications and interpersonal skills
- Experience in managing and advocating externally
- Experience in facilitating and supporting change within an organisation
- Third level education in relevant disciplines such as HR, legal and IR is a distinct advantage Committed to daa values
