Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting the estimating department and the General Manager by preparing cost estimates, assisting with tenders, and coordinating project documentation. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of construction practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing detailed and accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for construction projects
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine scope of work and project requirements
  • Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring competitive and complete pricing
  • Assist in preparing bid forms, tender submissions, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, supplier lists, and unit price records
  • Support the General Manager in project planning, budgeting, and procurement tasks
  • Participate in project handovers to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations
  • Estimate and forecast project durations to support durations to support effective scheduling and resource planning
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering input
  • Identifying bid opportunities, visiting project sites and attending bid meetings
  • Support administrative and organizational tasks related to estimating and tender coordination
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2-6 years of experience in estimating within the construction industry (experience in building envelope or restoration work is an asset)
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Estimating, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and trade practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively with a small, dedicated team
  • Class G Drivers License and reliable vehicle

Assets (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Previous experience with a general contractor or in building envelope and restoration projects
  • Familiarity with Ontario construction markets and subcontractor networks
  • Understanding of tendering processes and contract documentation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
