ESTIMATOR

OVERVIEW:

Lopes Limited is looking for an Estimator.

Reporting to the Director of Industrial Construction, the ideal candidate is required to have 5+ years experience in estimating jobs in the industrial field. We are seeking someone with good communication skills, attention to detail and is able to work in a team-based environment.

DESCRIPTION

An Estimator at Lopes is responsible for the full cycle of the estimate proposal, including a variety of projects with different complexity and sizes.

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

·Estimate preparation for costs of labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors and produce a final tender submission.

·Complete full quantity take-off of all labour, materials and equipment required to complete the project as per contract specifications to ensure accuracy of pricing.

·Review scope of work prior to issuing to subcontractors and complete a gap/overlap analysis.

·Provide direction on the scope and requirements to the suppliers and subcontractors based on specifications included RFP document.

·Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for labour, equipment, and material, to ascertain the most competitive price, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

·Review subcontractors pricing, inclusions, exclusions or qualifications for price evaluation and subcontractor selection.

·Responsible to identify execution risks with full comprehension of the tender documentation and developing project plans, to mitigate risks.

·Responsible for identifying pricing risks with full comprehension of the tender documentation and develop proposal terms and conditions to support/defend pricing and mitigate risks.

·Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

·Collaborate with Project Managers and other members of the project delivery team in preparing bid pricing and proposal documents, schedules, and project execution plans.

· Complete a final bid submission review and oversee the final tender document submission to the client.

· Work with the Client Contract Administrators to provide clarification as and when required during the post-tender/pre-award stage.

· Occasionally travel to job sites for bid and project kick off meetings.

· Adhere to all Company and Client policies and procedures.

·Obtain and submit quotations for changes to project scope.

·Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

·Engineering Technologist Diploma OR equivalent combinations of technical training plus 5+ years of experience in the construction industry including estimating.

·Experience in preparing estimation proposals, including applicable documentation, in industrial industries.

·Proficient in reviewing Construction Drawings.

·General construction knowledge and the integration of other trades work, understands specifications, methods, and procedures.

·Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practises and procedures as they apply to common construction processes.

·Proven competency in key software and productivity tools such as MS Office (particularly Excel), Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.

·Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.

·Ability to multi-task and sustain productivity over long hours in a fast-paced environment.

·Ability to work independently and self-monitor workload.

·Professional, approachable and customer-service oriented.

·Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

·Drivers’ license class G.

·Strong verbal and written English communication skill.
