EU Project Manager – EIT Manufacturing -West

Full-time position at the EIT Manufacturing West’s Headquarter in Donostia-San Sebastián (Spain). Remote work possible.

About the position:

EIT Manufacturing West is seeking a highly motivated and skilled EU Project Manager to join our Strategic Projects Department. The selected applicant will play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of an Erasmus+ initiative aimed at enhancing innovation, resilience and growth in the health industry through skills development. As part of the consortium, EIT Manufacturing West is contributing to this ambitious 4-year project by upskilling and reskilling efforts in the health industry to build a robust, future-ready workforce.

In addition to managing the EIT Manufacturing West activities in the project, the EU Project Manager will proactively scout for new European, national, and regional funding opportunities, coordinate grant applications, and contribute to the development of strategic partnerships.

Missions and key Accountabilities:

Project Management and Coordination:

  • Manage and coordinate the project effectively, ensuring tasks and milestones are delivered on time and within budget, reporting directly to EIT Manufacturing West Strategic Projects Senior Manager.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for EIT Manufacturing West’s participation in the project, maintaining close communication with the consortium and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit project documentation (deliverables, cost reports, performance metrics, KPIs, etc.) as required by the Erasmus + program.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, consultations, and collaborative activities to support the development of the EU Health Industry Skills Strategy and the creation of training programs tailored to health industry skill needs.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with consortium partners, industry stakeholders, and other key players to align project outcomes with strategic objectives.
  • Support the validation of project outcomes through stakeholder consultations and collaborative efforts.

Public Funding Strategy:

  • In collaboration with the Strategic Projects team members, shape, coordinate and run activities to improve access to EU/national/regional public funding sources, leveraging partnerships and networks to increase success rates.
  • Track and report on funding opportunities and trends relevant to EIT Manufacturing’s strategic goals.

Proposal Development and Grant Applications:

  • Identify and assess new funding opportunities at the EU, national, and regional levels.
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation and submission of high-quality applications.
  • Develop and manage consortia for new proposals, ensuring alignment with EIT Manufacturing’s strategic priorities.

Qualifications and experience:

Education:

Bachelor/master’s degree in European studies, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Background in STEM or Health Sciences is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing publicly funded European & National projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, etc.) and preparing high quality funding proposals.

  • Prior experience in biomedical and manufacturing technologies is a strong asset.
  • Proficient in using IT tools including MS Office and Web-based collaborative platforms.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Spanish and/or additional European languages is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Proven track record in end-to-end project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of the European Union’s structure, funding mechanisms, and programs. Demonstrated experience in related fields such as education and training, ecosystem building, acceleration programs, entrepreneurship, business creation, or innovation-driven engagement.
  • Exceptional networking abilities, with a proven capacity to connect and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines with precision.
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills, with an ability to foster collaboration and maintain professional relationships Excellent communication skills both oral and written, with a talent for tailoring messages to different audiences.
  • Demonstrate sense of ownership and consistent record of delivering measurable results
  • Proactive, reliable, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently while maintaining accountability
  • Effective team player skilled in engaging with colleagues and partners from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
  • Comfortable working in matrix-organisations and multinational teams
  • Displays can-do attitude with a willingness and eagerness to learn and adapt
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly across Europe as required by the role.

Location:

The role can be based on remotely within Spain or alternatively conducted in physical or hybrid capacity at EIT Manufacturing West in Donostia-San Sebastián (Spain). Regardless of the arrangement, occasional travel to European destinations will be required for in-person meetings and project-related activities.
