Elora Road Meats is a well-established, family-operated meat processing facility serving farmers and retail customers since 1976 in South Bruce Ontario.

We are seeking a skilled Experienced Butcher with 3-5 years of professional meat-cutting experience, including work on a kill-floor. This role is ideal for someone who is confident with advanced cuts, equipment operation, and fast-paced production environments.

As a butcher you will need to:

  • Meat Preparation:
  • Break down beef, pork, lamb, and seasonal wild game according to customer specific cuts.
  • Perform all stages of meat cutting and processing; including slaughter activities, carcass breakdown, and humane-handling procedures.
  • Equipment Operation:
  • Maintain equipment and ensure sanitation standards are met.
  • Use of knives, saws, mixers, vacuum packers, slicers, and scales with confidence.
  • Customer Service:
  • Provide customers with knowledgeable guidance on cuts, custom orders, product information, and cooking methods
  • Answer phone inquiries/booking animals
  • Workstation Leadership:
  • Support junior staff, maintain workflow, and uphold safety standards.
  • Support general shop operations.

This position will be full-time Monday-Friday. This may include longer days and weekends on occasion. The fall is typically busier with hunting season and more hours would be needed.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 3-5years professional butcher experience in retail, processing, or slaughter environments
  • Strong knife proficiency - Skilled in deboning, trimming, and knowledgeable in various animal cuts
  • Physical capabilities - Ability to lift 40-60+lbs, stand for long periods, and work in cold environments (0-4C). Emotional resilience and comfort performing duties in a kill-floor environment
  • Reliability - Consistent attendance and punctuality.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Food handler certification (will send for training if needed)

Pay: $22.50-$28.00 per hour
