Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements
• Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding systems
• Resolve claim denials by investigating issues related to insurance coverage, medical necessity, or documentation errors
• Follow up on unpaid or partially paid claims through effective medical collection strategies
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
• Communicate professionally with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to clarify billing questions or discrepancies
• Stay updated on changes in healthcare claims management, health insurance policies, and coding guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims processing
• Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems, DRG classification, and ICD coding standards
• Experience with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex billing information clearly and professionally
• Familiarity with health insurance policies, medical billing procedures, and medical collection practices
• Ability to analyze medical documentation accurately and apply appropriate coding conventions
• Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently
