Fabric Manager – Garment Manufacturing Factory

Job Summary:
The Fabric Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing fabrics for garment production. The role ensures the right fabric is available in the required quality, quantity, shade, and time to meet production schedules and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan fabric requirements based on production orders, BOM, and production schedules.
• Coordinate with merchandising, production, purchase, knitting, dyeing, and finishing departments.
• Follow up with fabric suppliers and dyeing/processing units to ensure timely delivery.
• Check fabric quantity, GSM, width, shade, shrinkage, and other required specifications.
• Conduct or coordinate fabric inspection before production.
• Maintain fabric stock records, lot-wise and shade-wise.
• Ensure proper identification and storage of different fabric lots and colours.
• Monitor fabric consumption and control fabric wastage.
• Arrange fabric allocation and issue to cutting according to production requirements.
• Monitor fabric shortages, excess quantities, and leftover stock.
• Coordinate shade continuity and lot segregation to avoid production issues.
• Maintain fabric inward, outward, rejection, and balance reports.
• Handle fabric-related quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers/process houses.
• Monitor fabric lead times and highlight potential delays to management.
• Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all fabric movements.
• Support costing and fabric requirement calculations for new developments.
• Train and supervise fabric store/inspection staff.
• Prepare daily/weekly fabric status reports for management.

Key Skills & Requirements:

• Experience in knitted garment manufacturing and fabric management.
• Good knowledge of knitted fabrics such as single jersey, rib, interlock, fleece, pique, etc.
• Knowledge of GSM, fabric width, shrinkage, spirality, shade variation, and fabric defects.
• Good understanding of fabric consumption and wastage control.
• Strong coordination and follow-up skills.
• Good knowledge of Excel and inventory management.
• Ability to work under production deadlines.
• Good communication skills with suppliers and internal departments.

• Fabric stock accuracy
• Fabric rejection/quality issues
• Fabric shortage/excess control
• Supplier delivery performance
• Fabric inventory turnover
• Reduction of production delays caused by fabric issues

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
