Introduction:
The Opportunity
The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Coordinator to join our dedicated Property team. This vital role ensures the effective operational management of Diocesan buildings and facilities, creating safe, compliant, and efficient environments that support our agencies and communities.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Coordinator oversees a broad range of responsibilities, including condition audits, maintenance coordination, asset register updates, contractor engagement, and statutory compliance monitoring. The role also supports capital and maintenance project delivery, tendering, and funding recommendations.
As the main point of contact for facilities matters, the Facilities Coordinator works closely with agency staff, tenants, contractors, and consultants to ensure service quality and continuous improvement. WHS responsibilities include contractor inductions, risk assessments, and safety compliance.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Newcastle West, with an allocated fleet vehicle.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The primary responsibilities of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland - Newcastle Assets Property and Housing Dept. is property development, site specific master planning, project planning and management, commercial development, facilities management and maintenance.
Skills and Experiences:
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Strong, detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience in building operations, and facilities and asset maintenance
- Demonstrated experience in a facilities management role
- Demonstrated understanding of general building and facilities services and related trades
- Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to work to a flexible time schedule when required
- Proficiency in Computerised Building Management Systems
- Experience in using MEX Facilities Maintenance software application (Desirable)
- Experience in using an electronic records management system (Desirable)
- Tertiary qualifications in facilities management or a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience
- Current Motor Vehicle Licence
- A current Working With Children Check for paid employment or willingness to obtain
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
