Position Title
Registered Nurse – Family Practice (Primary Care)
Location
Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) – Randolph Clinic
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (Family Practice) provides comprehensive primary care nursing services across the lifespan, supporting pediatric, adolescent, adult, obstetric, and geriatric patient populations. The RN coordinates care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, promotes preventive care and disease management, and ensures quality clinical outcomes in accordance with established clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Work Schedule
- Work shifts will be between 0730 – 1630, Monday through Friday
- Normal work schedules will be 9-hour shifts, including a 1-hour non-paid lunch daily
- Total work hours will not exceed 40 hours per week or 80 hours per two weeks
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $40.00/hr
Health & Welfare (H&W): $4.41/hr
Paid Time Off (PTO): 80 hours accrued annually
Sick Leave: 56 hours accrued annually
Holidays: 11 paid holidays annually
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Graduate from a college or university accredited by:
- National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or
- Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience after graduation
- Minimum 24 months of experience within the last 48 months in a primary care clinic setting
Licensure
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
Board Certification
- Not required
Core Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a diverse healthcare team
- Conduct physical exams and obtain health histories
- Provide health promotion, counseling, and patient education
- Administer medications, wound care, and other patient-specific interventions
- Recognize adverse signs/symptoms and respond appropriately during emergent situations
Care Coordination & Referrals
- Arrange referrals and specialty care as appropriate
- Apply clinical judgment by synthesizing information from multiple sources
Communication & Documentation
- Perform telephone triage and determine appropriate patient disposition (ER, clinic, home care, follow-up)
- Maintain accurate written and electronic documentation, including telephone encounters
Procedures & Equipment Operation
- Set up, operate, and monitor clinic equipment (EKG, cardiac monitors, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, etc.)
- Perform/assist with procedures including catheterization, EKGs, phlebotomy, splinting, tympanograms, irrigation of eyes/ears, and additional clinic protocols
- Ensure proper documentation of procedures and treatments
Supervision, Training & Clinic Readiness
- Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare personnel
- Make patient care assignments based on scope of practice and staff competency
- Participate in orientation/training of newly assigned personnel
- Ensure equipment is cleaned/stored properly, and supplies/medications are replenished
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain standards of care in accordance with clinic policies and guidelines
- Ensure a safe working environment aligned with infection control and regulatory
Preferred Qualification
- Working knowledge of the Military Health System and TRICARE health benefits
