Job Title: Family Services Coordinator
Reports to: Family Services
Location: Edmonton, AB
Employment Type: Full-Time (some evening/weekend flexibility required)
Position Summary:
The Family Services Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting children with cancer and their families during one of the most difficult times in their lives. This unique position blends compassionate family support as a member of our family services team with hands-on coordination of Papa Ken’s House — a home-away-from-home for families traveling to Edmonton for their child’s treatment.
This individual ensures families feel welcomed, supported, and cared for, both emotionally and practically, through direct support services and day-to-day management of the residence, while also providing programming and administrative support to the family services team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Guest Coordination & House Management at Papa Ken’s House
- Manage guest bookings, room assignments, check-ins and check-outs
- Orient new families to the home and its policies
- Maintain respectful, professional, and compassionate relationships with all guests
- Support a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for all families
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and safety of all areas
- Oversee cleaning team, room turnovers, and sanitation procedures in common areas
- Maintain inventory of household supplies, sundries and food items and restock as needed
- Report and coordinate any repairs or maintenance needs with administration and operations coordinator
- Maintain accurate records in client management systems and house logs
- Submit regular reports and updates to the Family Services Manager
- Track program participation and assist with outcome measurement and data collection
- Required to be on call for emergency-related matters only, with limited and infrequent activation
2. Family Services Administration
- Provide administrative support to the Family Services Team including, but not limited to administration of financial support programs, supporting with parking requests and serving as secondary support for the main phone line
- Assist with compilation and management of Family Services Impact Statistics.
- Assist family services manager with development and execution of rural and remote family support strategies
- Participate in and support Family Programs and Family Events as required
Skills & Qualifications:
- 2 or more years in a family services, guest services, or nonprofit environment
- Experience in hospitality, house management, or caregiving is an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and client databases
- Ability to manage physical tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and inventory
- Valid Drivers License
- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check required

- Effectively able to facilitate positive resolutions to disputes or confrontation
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent and emotionally complex situations
Working Conditions:
- Full time in person, based primarily at Papa Ken’s House with visits to the Kids with Cancer Society office
- Some evening or weekend availability required for family needs or special events
- On-call or after-hours coordination is occasionally be required
