The Division of Resident Services, Partnerships, and Initiatives (RSPI) encompasses three (3) main offices overseeing a portfolio of six (6) departments that engage NYCHA residents in critical programs, services, and initiatives in the areas of economic opportunity, youth, senior and social services; supports NYCHA’s extensive network of Resident Associations; and connects residents to opportunities such as financial empowerment, business development, career advancement, and educational programs.
Family Partnerships (FPD), one of Resident Services’ two (2) departments under RSPI, connects residents to critical services and implements programs and policies that support household stability, tenancy, individual advancement, and aging-in-place. FPD identifies and engages with external providers and City agencies offering youth, senior, and social services. Furthermore, FPD reunites families with justice history.
Resident Services seeks an experienced Community Coordinator to support its Family Partnerships Team.
Under general supervision of the Family Partnerships Borough Administrator and with mid-latitude for independent initiative and judgement, responsibilities of the Community Coordinator role include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Maintain a short- and mid-term client caseload with detailed documentation, case notes and regular reporting.
2. Travel to individual and joint home visits, resident meetings, and partnership events across the borough several days each week.
3. Conduct in-person and video assessments of residents' social service needs and coordinate those services with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Track all resident and resident-related interactions through a digital case management system and pulling reports and data upon request.
5. Communicate regularly with NYCHA’s Property Management, Law, Application and Tenancy, Skilled Trades, Safety and Security, Healthy Homes, and Finance departments to address co-existing resident risk factors.
6. Coordinate regularly with external social services partners and providers, including Adult Protective Services (APS), Administration for Child Services (ACS), Department of Social Services (DSS), Human Resource Administration (HRA) and a variety of Community-based Organizations (CBOs).
7. Perform outreach to Resident Leaders, connecting with them in times of community crisis as well as proactively discussing resident needs and collaborative solutions.
8. Work on a Team of Social Service Supervisors, Coordinators and Associates to coordinate consistent service delivery and feedback for residents under care.
9. Supervise and train Case Associates to screen incoming referrals, advocate for resident services, keep detailed communication and case records, analyze case data, and manage other case processes.
10. Identify gaps in residents’ social service needs and then partner with sister-departments in RSPI, and external social services providers to creatively fill/solve those needs.
11. Represent NYCHA at resident, community, and citywide events.
12. Utilize Microsoft Office suite of applications and (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook) as well as video conferencing platforms and task management tools.
13. Ensure supervisees comply with set standards, policies and procedures as needed.
14. Contribute to improved outreach, referral and recruitment procedure updates as needed.
15. Perform additional related duties incidental to the work listed as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
1. MSW degree preferred. 2. Bilingual preferred. 3. Experience conducting home visits. 4. Experience working with high-risk populations. 5. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 6. Ability to drive a plus. 7. Above-average use of Microsoft Office, video conferencing and workflow management tools.
