Family Support Worker

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker with proven experience working with children to join our team. In this role, you will provide practical and emotional support to children and their families, helping them overcome challenges and improve their circumstances. You will work closely with families to develop tailored support plans and connect them with appropriate services, ensuring the best outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Services:
  • Work directly with children and their families to identify challenges and develop action plans to address their needs.
  • Provide one-to-one support, group sessions, or family-based interventions.
  • Child-Centered Focus:
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and developmental needs of children are prioritized in all aspects of your work.
  • Build positive relationships with children to help them feel supported and heard.
  • Assessment and Planning:
  • Conduct assessments of family situations to identify risks, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans in collaboration with families and other professionals.
  • Liaison and Coordination:
  • Work collaboratively with schools, social services, health professionals, and community organizations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for families, advocating on their behalf when necessary.
  • Crisis Intervention:
  • Provide immediate support during crises, such as family breakdowns or safeguarding concerns.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, assessments, and progress.
  • Prepare reports for reviews, case conferences, and other meetings as required.
  • Compliance and Safeguarding:
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required:
  • Experience working with children in a professional setting (e.g., education, social work, community work).
  • Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and safeguarding principles.
  • Proven ability to engage with families in a non-judgmental and supportive manner.
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Business insurance and valid UK driving licence is preferred

  • Commit to predetermined, set workdays that maximize coverage and continuity of service.
  • Flexibly adjust to monthly scheduling reviews, where adjustments are made based on service demand and personal availability.
  • Engage in proactive planning, ensuring that all parties have a clear understanding of their schedules well in advance.
  • Preferred:
  • A qualification in social work, childcare, family support, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or higher, degree in social work or related discipline).
  • Experience in delivering parenting programs or family intervention strategies.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess situations and develop effective support plans.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems for record-keeping and reporting.

Additional Information

Ability to travel locally to meet families and attend meetings.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £16.00-£18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 10 per week
