Our services have primarily focused on preserving and enhancing family relationships. Through qualified staff, we offer a wide variety of professional services to the community.

We are seeking a full time, Family Support Worker - Supervised Access program, to join our team.

Position Summary

The Family Support Worker is a key member of the Supervised Access Program, providing safe, structured, and supportive environments for visits between parents and children where there are concerns related to physical, emotional, or psychological safety.

This role focuses on supporting healthy parent-child interactions while ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Working closely with referral sources, caregivers, and families, the Family Support Worker facilitates supervised visits in a variety of settings including agency spaces, family homes, foster homes, and community locations.

This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to remain neutral while observing, supporting, and documenting family interactions. The Family Support Worker contributes to positive family outcomes through respectful engagement, clear communication, and adherence to program and safety protocols.

A class 5 drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle to use for work along with willingness to acquire business insurance is required.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery & Client Support

· Coordinate and schedule supervised visits in collaboration with caregivers, families, and referral sources

· Provide program orientation to parents and caregivers participating in the service

· Supervise and monitor parent-child visits to ensure safety and appropriateness of interactions

· Maintain a neutral, supportive presence while observing family dynamics

· Model appropriate parenting and childcare practices

· Intervene promptly and effectively when safety concerns arise

· Provide guidance or parent education during visits when requested by referral sources

· Ensure separation of parties (e.g., caregivers and parents) when required to maintain safety and confidentiality

Transportation & Safety

· Provide safe and reliable transportation for children and/or parents, as requested

· Follow all safety protocols and risk management procedures during transportation and visits

· Set up safe, developmentally appropriate visit environments using toys and activities

· Respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected situations

Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain accurate, objective, and timely records of each visit

· Complete detailed supervised access reports aligned with Association and funder standards

· Maintain confidential client files in accordance with Association policies

· Participate in court processes and provide testimony when required

Collaboration & Communication

· Communicate regularly with referral sources regarding visitation plans and client needs

· Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure high-quality service delivery

· Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and training opportunities

Other Duties

· Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays to meet program needs

· Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervision

· Ongoing supervision and support provided by the Program Director

Training

· Orientation to Supervised Access Program policies and procedures

· Ongoing professional development and training opportunities

Qualifications

Core Qualifications

· Diploma in a related human/social service field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

· Fluency in English (written and verbal)

Additional Requirements (Mandatory)

  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance

· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check for working with children and vulnerable adults

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Strong understanding of family dynamics, child development, and parenting practices

· Ability to assess risk and respond effectively to safety concerns

· Excellent observation, documentation, and report writing skills

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to maintain professional boundaries and neutrality in emotionally complex situations

· Capacity to work independently and respond effectively in crisis situations

Assets

· Experience working in supervised access, child welfare, or family support services

· Experience working with diverse families, including Indigenous and marginalized communities

· Proficiency in a second language

Working Conditions

· Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends, statutory holidays)

· Physical ability to support program activities and transport clients as needed

· Willingness to travel to various visit locations within the community

Hours and Compensation

  • 35 hours per week
  • Schedule includes daytime, evening, and weekend hours, along with Statutory holidays, based on client needs
  • Wage and benefits provided in accordance with the Collective Agreement
