As a Family Support Worker, you will provide early intervention and family support services that strengthen family functioning, improve child safety and wellbeing, and build positive outcomes for vulnerable families within our community.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Family Support Worker to join our BRIDGE Program in Townsville. Working alongside families experiencing vulnerability, you will provide practical support, case management and early intervention strategies that help families build on their strengths, overcome challenges and create positive change.

As a Family Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with families to identify strengths, address barriers and implement practical strategies that promote family wellbeing, safety and stability.

Description:
As a Family Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with families to identify strengths, address barriers and implement practical strategies that promote family wellbeing, safety and stability.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering early intervention and family support services through a case management framework
Supporting families to strengthen parenting, household and life skills
Conducting assessments and developing family support plans
Assisting families to improve child safety, wellbeing and family functioning
Providing information, advocacy, referrals and connections to community supports
Building effective relationships with government, non-government and community stakeholders
Contributing to community education initiatives and group activities
Maintaining accurate case notes, records and reporting requirements
Participating in supervision, professional development and team activities
Skills and Experiences:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Qualifications in Social Work, Human Services, Community Services, Community Development or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
Experience working with children, young people and families within a community services environment
Knowledge of strengths-based, family-centred and early intervention approaches
Experience conducting risk and safety assessments
Strong communication, engagement and relationship-building skills
The ability to work collaboratively with individuals, families and external stakeholders
Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and communities and/or experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
Current Driver Licence
Current Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or the ability to obtain
